Lunch is easier than dinner. In beautiful weather, book about three weeks out. Outside peak snowbird season it loosens up. Walk-ins are accepted and are usually sat inside. A reservation is what gets the outdoor table.

Resy goes live at noon, 30 days out, and a desktop browser is the faster click. Notifications and walk-ins are the other route. A weekday arrival around 5:30pm, especially in summer, is the realistic walk-in, often outside or at the counter. Walrus Rodeo, next door, is the backup.
Some seats are held for walk-ins, and same-day cancellations join that first-come, first-served pool, so showing up at the 5:30 PM open is a real strategy.
Several counter seats and the 14-seat outdoor patio are held back for walk-ins; nearly everything else is booked online, at noon each day for 30 days out.

A reasonable Saturday needs about two weeks. Sidewalk tables are the walk-in seats, and a phone call usually gets a wait time. Near the end of service, a couple of bar seats can open.

There's always space for walk-ins at the bar and the courtyard lounge tables. Reservations, for up to six, hold a card, and cancelling with less than 24 hours' notice costs $20, so call if plans change and watch for day-before openings.
